The Big Word Project

So simple it’s brilliant. Check out http://www.thebigwordproject.com if you want to say out loud, “Why the hell didn’t I think of that?” At the time of this post, they have sold roughly 3,500 words. If the average word purchased is 6 letters long, they’ve made $21,000. And after being featured in this months Wired (how I found it), I’m sure they’re about to get a lot richer. I did after all just pay 11 bucks to redefine “certificate.” Too bad “gift” was taken and “gipht” isn’t a word (yet). Click the button below to see what I’m talking about.

Prairie Fire Grille

Prairie Fire Grille LogoWe would like to welcome the newest restaurant offering individual certificates on Giphter, Prairie Fire Grille. Prairie Fire is a fantastic restaurant located in Birmingham. You can find them on the web at www.prairiefiregrille.com. We’re going to be highlighting all or new additions from now on, so be sure to check back!

Free Gifts and new certificates

Mike and I are always brainstorming new ways to get people involved in the Giphter experience. What better way than giving away some free gift certificates? If you look above this post, you’ll see a link to our “Free Gifts”. Free Gifts are easy to take advantage of. Just create an account if you haven’t done so yet, click on free gifts, and give us the emails of people that you think might enjoy our site. If they decide to purchase a gift certificate, we’ll place a shiny new $10 gift certificate in your account to use at any of our Giphter restaurants! Want to try and beat the system? Create an account, then give us the name of your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse/friend and have them purchase a gift certificate for you. We’ll then give you a free $10! We’re so excited about people getting free gifts, we’re even giving you unorthodox ways to earn free money!

We would also like to welcome our newest group to Gipther: the Birmingham Originals. The Birmingham Originals is a group of locally-owned restaurants in Birmingham, and has over 25 members. They recently voted to adopt Giphter for their organization, and we’ll have their gift certificates online later in the week. We’re very pleased that they have chosen Giphter to manage their group certificates, and we’re glad to have them on board.

Also signing on in the last few weeks are a few individual restaurant certificates. They are Billy’s Bar and Grill, the Dardanelles, and Forbes Woodfire Grill. Three restaurants in three great cities, with more on the way.

Keep checking the blog. We have several very exciting announcements that are in the works!
